Star FM Breakfast Duo Announced as 2016 Tour de Depot Shepparton Ambassadors
15 September 2016
The Goulburn Valley community is gearing up for the return of the Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton on Sunday 23 October, with Star FM’s breakfast radio stars, Jess and Tommy, joining riders at the start line as the 2016 ambassadors.
Combining the things they love – keeping fit, having fun with the Goulburn Valley community and supporting local causes – Jess and Tommy will jump on their bikes in support of local charity Very Special Kids.
“When I was asked to be an ambassador for the Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton, I was honoured and excited,” said Jess.
“It’s such a close-knit community and it’s a great way to bring everyone together for a great cause,” she added.
“I’ve recently taken up cycling so am excited to come out on the day with a whole bunch of friends and then keep cycling throughout the summer.”
Tommy added: “I think what makes me so proud to be involved with such a great event is that everyone can be a part of the Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton, no matter your riding ability.”
The Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton invites people of all ages and abilities to get on their bikes and cheer on their friends and fellow riders, while enjoying family-fun festivities at the finish line. The finish line will once again feature an action packed community festival open to all, with activities including the Powercor static bike challenge, carnival rides, face painting, local market stalls, food stalls, sausage sizzle and much more.
Riders are able to choose from a relaxed and leisurely 10km ride through Shepparton’s town centre, or a timed 20km ride for more experienced cyclists, which includes a $500 cash prize for the fastest male and female cyclists.
Powercor Regional Business Manager, Ian Gillingham, said this year’s Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton will be a great way for friends and families to enjoy a fun day out and give back to charities supporting the local community.
“We are very pleased to have Jess and Tommy joining us and can’t wait to bring the Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton back to the Goulburn Valley region,” said Gillingham.
“We have a strong relationship with the community that we serve and we would like to continue to play a key role in aiding economic growth and overall prosperity in the Goulburn Valley region,” he said.
“The Powercor Tour de Depot Shepparton is another way we can continue to play an active role in supporting the local communities in our service area.”
