Here’s what you need to know about permits, approvals and safety requirements when moving through our network.
Any high or over-dimensional loads travelling through our network have the potential to damage power assets and put drivers and the public at risk. It’s important to plan ahead and apply for approval to ensure that transport does not interfere with any of our overhead power lines, poles or other assets.
Loads higher than 4.6 metres may require a permit from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR). You’ll need our approval for the transport route and planning arrangements as part of your application.
Once we have received your application, a member of our team will review your transport route and identify any support activities required for safe passage. Depending on our assessment, this may include:
In these instances, a quote will be provided to the applicant for us to undertake the required work. Once this has been accepted, we will allocate resources and work with you to arrange a suitable date for the work to be carried out.
If we review your proposed route and determine that travel can go ahead, we will issue you with a permission letter which will include the approved timeframe and conditions for travelling through our network.
To ensure any proposed transportation of a high load is not delayed please provide a minimum of 10 clear business days’ notice. Some projects will require more notice depending on the height of the load, the number of loads, and the proposed route.
