Powercor is working to identify the cause of power outages being experienced by some customers in the New Gisborne, Riddells Creek and surrounding areas this week.
Crews are conducting forensic patrols of more than 112 kilometres of powerlines to identify the cause of the outages. Any issues detected through the patrols will be immediately addressed.
In addition, specialised fault detection technology is also being installed in three locations today to allow us to detect a more precise location for investigation.
We are also investigating other ways to reduce impacts on customers.
Since Monday, customers in the area have experienced three unplanned outages. Crews have responded as quickly as possible to restore power. At this stage, no cause has been found for the outages.
We know how much our customers rely on us to deliver reliable and safe power to their homes and businesses, and we recognise that unfortunately our network is currently not meeting its usual high standards of reliability in this area.
We are doing everything to address the reliability issues being experienced by customers in this area.
We will be continuing to update customers as we make further progress on this work.
