The Victorian Government has today announced an intent to establish a public-owned power generator to invest in large-scale solar and wind projects if re-elected.
Our understanding is that while this corporation will be called the ‘new’ State Electricity Commission, its scope will be very different to what it was before and will not include operating as an electricity distribution network.
As owner and manager of the power distribution networks spanning 65% of the state, we fully support the transition to renewable energy and welcome any opportunity to supply more clean energy to our 1.9 million customers.
We’ll continue to work closely with all branches of the Victorian Government no matter the outcome of the November election.
