CitiPower is working with Development Victoria, to deliver new power connections and ensure our other underground assets are relocated and protected during the construction and delivery of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Redevelopment.

Project Outcomes

Development Victoria is delivering the transformation of the Melbourne Arts Precinct, Australia’s largest cultural infrastructure project, on behalf of the Victorian Government through Melbourne Arts Precinct Corporation (MAP Co), in partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne, National Gallery of Victoria and Creative Victoria.

The $1.7 billion project will transform Melbourne’s creative precinct – attracting visitors, creating jobs and establishing creative spaces and a vibrant new urban garden in the heart of the city.

As part of the redevelopment CitiPower will be undertaking underground cable works on Sturt Street, Kavanagh Street, Southbank Boulevard, Fanning Street, Fawkner Street and City Road.

What to expect during CitiPower works:

  • Works will involve digging up parts of the road and footpath.
  • Some of this work may be noisy.
  • During works there will be some temporary traffic and parking impacts on Kavanagh Street, Fanning Street, Fawkner Street, City Road, and a permanent closure of Sturt Street.
  • Local traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times with traffic control in place to safely guide vehicles and pedestrians around the work area.
  • Reinstatement of the area will be progressively completed after the completion of construction works.
