New CSIP-AUS 1.2 Requirements for Solar and DER Installations from 1 November 2026
From 1 November 2026, all solar inverters installed in Victoria must comply with CSIP-AUS 1.2 (SA TS 5573:2025).
Why is this changing?
CSIP-AUS is the national communications standard that enables solar inverters and other distributed energy resources (DER) to communicate with electricity networks. From 1 November 2026, all Victorian electricity distribution businesses are required to comply with the updated standard.
What you need to do
Before installing a solar inverter or applying for a solar alteration from 1 November 2026, please ensure it is listed as CSIP-AUS 1.2 compliant (tested to SA TS 5573:2025) on:
- The Clean Energy Council (CEC) Approved Inverter List Products | Clean Energy Council; and
- Our Approved Inverter List Solar Approved Inverters.
Please also note that inverters of any other types of DER device that may be subject to network control for Emergency Backstop or Flexible Exports will also need to be CSIP-AUS 1.2 compliant. This includes batteries and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) EV chargers
Installations and solar alterations after 1 November 2026
From 1 November 2026, inverter models that are not CSIP-AUS 1.2 compliant can no longer be submitted through an alteration request in our portal.
In many cases, existing inverter models may be able to achieve CSIP-AUS 1.2 compliance through a firmware update. We recommend checking with the inverter manufacturer to confirm how to ensure the inverter is brought up to the CSIP-AUS 1.2 standard version.
